A single Bottle to Flame candle is designed to burn for roughly 60 hours — achieving that lifespan depends entirely on how you care for it.
Safety
What are the candle safety basics?
Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, curtains, and flammable materials. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never burn for more than four hours at a time — this prevents the container from overheating and lets the wax reset.
First Burn
How do I get the first burn right?
Let the candle burn until the wax melts completely across the surface, reaching the edges of the glass — usually two to four hours. A full melt pool on the first burn prevents tunneling, where wax hardens around a central column and shortens your candle's life.
Care
Should I trim the wick? How much?
Yes. Before each relight, trim your wick to about ¼ inch. A long wick creates a larger, sootier flame that can overheat the container. Trimming promotes a cleaner burn, maximizes fragrance throw, and extends the life of your candle.
Troubleshooting
My candle is tunneling — what do I do?
Wrap the candle in foil to reflect heat inward until the tunneled wax melts level, then burn normally.
Why is my flame small or weak?
Pour off a small amount of excess liquid wax before it hardens. Make sure the wick is the proper length before lighting.
How do I stop the candle from smoking?
Trim the wick to ¼ inch. Move the candle away from drafts and vents — airflow makes the flame flicker and produce soot.
